Cowrie Shell Necklace

Cowrie shells have been used as currency, talismans and adornment across sub-Saharan Africa for thousands of years. This layered necklace is handstrung by artisans in coastal Accra, combining sun-bleached natural cowries with hand-knotted linen cord in tonal shades. It wears beautifully alone or layered — light against the skin, resonant with the memory of the sea it came from.
